Kaye Shannon

BA
Manager & Funeral Director

Kaye started with Sibuns in 2002 and is proud to be leading a great dedicated team in such rewarding worthwhile work. A background in nursing, a Bachelors degree in Psychology, and some banking experience along the way all contributed to her natural affinity for the role of a funeral director. Further studies around grief have helped in understanding her client families.

Kaye is a very involved member of the Rotary Club of Auckland, fulfilling Vice President duties this year.

‘I love what I do and it is such a privilege to be able to help people at such a personal and sometimes distressing time’, says Kaye. Kaye lives locally to the funeral home in Remuera and has 3 adult children.

Shane Alexander

Assistant Manager & Funeral Director

In 2007 Shane made a career change to funeral directing and hasn’t looked back. His naval background and eye for detail enable him to utilise his natural abilities in working with people. In helping a family arrange a funeral Shane takes the utmost care to ensure that all the details are discussed and is very thorough in his preparation for the day. Shane is busy with life at the beach with his son and refurbishing his home.

Alan Pound

Funeral Director

Alan comes to us from a background in IT focusing on Customer Service and has been involved in the Funeral profession since 2008. He has a natural empathy for people and feels privileged to be involved in assisting families as they make arrangements for the funeral service of their loved one. Alan is married with 2 adult children and a grandson. His spare time is usually taken up with walking Buddy the spoodle along the Eastern beaches and planning his next overseas trip.

Storm Deuss

Funeral Director

With a background in Care Home Administration, Storm uses these skills and her love of helping people in this exciting new challenge. Storm feels privileged and honoured to be able to assist families at such a difficult time in their lives and she tries to go the extra mile to ensure that families wishes are accommodated wherever possible. Storm lives locally with her husband and spends her free time with friends, family and Barry the Pug.

Catherine Jagger

Catherine found her passion for working in the funeral industry 8 years ago, through a combination of helping and interacting with others and a conviction borne of her own experiences with breast cancer. In 2016 she obtained her New Zealand Diploma in Funeral Directing from WelTec – a course that brought her friendships she still enjoys today. Outside of her work, Catherine is the proud mother to three adult daughters and enjoys competing in Dragon Boating with her team the Waitemata Warriors and exploring the outdoors on the weekends. Catherine is deeply committed to her work and her families, as well as living a healthy and positive lifestyle. 

Leith Wills

Administrator/Receptionist

Leith will usually be the first person at Sibuns to greet you either on the phone or at the door. With her experienced and reassuring manner she will guide you through unfamiliar territory answering all those initial questions and queries. She manages the office administration and enjoys supporting the Funeral Directors and the families we look after. Leith has had experience in various roles including secretarial, administration, retail and personalised tour guiding. She lives locally, has 3 adult children, and enjoys walking, playing golf and spending time with her grandson.

John Sibun

Sibuns Advisor & Grandson Of Founder

John and his family have been connected with the business for over 100 years. Educated at Auckland Grammar School, John played representative rugby for Auckland with some acclaim. He enjoys a good round of golf both in New Zealand and whilst travelling, is an active member of the Auckland Rotary Club and is busy with family and grandchildren. John continues to add great value to the Team at Sibuns with his wealth of experience and knowledge.

Claire Seel

Bereavement Support

Claire provides our Sibuns families with after-care support should they desire it. She works with family members to help and support them through this often difficult period of adjustment. Claire has qualifications in both Nursing and Counselling. Combining twenty years as a registered nurse, degrees in counselling and the past six years facilitating group work with children from years 6–8 in the Seasons Programme, she is very experienced working with children and their families during their time of loss and grief. Claire brings to the role tremendous understanding and skill, together with her own experience of family life. Claire lives in Remuera with her husband and 2 teenage daughters.

Spencer

Resident Comfort Dog

Spencer is a full time member of the Sibuns team. He enjoys visits from other dogs, sunbathing in the kitchen and licking clean the yoghurt pots at lunchtime.
